Our Success Story
At the age of 13, Dave Golding began working at Golding Graphics with his father and founder, Ian Golding. Dave started in the darkroom developing film among other small tasks around the shop. Once he learned to master this part of the business, he was promoted to part-time press operator as a summer job. Dave enjoyed the work and was eager to learn how to operate the various presses around the shop. As the business grew, he went on to learn office duties from his father Ian including quotes and estimates which gave him a working feel for the business and accounting side of the industry.
After graduating high school, Dave attended York University where he graduated with an Honours Degree in Kinesiology. He then went to St. Bonaventure University in Buffalo where he received a degree in education. After a couple of years of teaching Dave discovered that he missed working with his father at Golding Graphics. Committed to learning all aspects of the business from his father, Dave quit teaching and eventually took over Golding Graphics in 2004. For those who worked with or knew Ian, he’s still around from time to time during his retirement. You may even see him helping out in the bindery or on a delivery.
Golding Graphics has been a locally owned family business for the last 50 years and has been a proud contributor to the community. Whether it is sponsoring local sporting teams or donating print to the Durham Police Food and Toy Drive, we aim to be active in Whitby and Durham Region. We are proud members of the Whitby Chamber of Commerce since 1973 and work with them and their members on various projects throughout the community.
With diversification, Golding Graphics has been able to keep itself relevant in today’s changing world whether it be offset print, large format print, colour copying or direct mail. Regardless, if we are working with a large corporation on a special run of booklets or a small family-run business that needs a lower quantity of stationary or brochures we strive to make our customers feel welcome and important.
